How to use a different currency with Circle

Sending currencies


As soon as you have a Circle account, you have the ability to send an amount of money shown in either US Dollars, British Pounds, or Euros. It doesn't matter who you're sending to, since we take care of all the conversion work behind the scenes.

Holding currencies

The currency that you begin with is dependent on where you live.

If you live in a place where we can operate with more than one currency, we offer the ability to switch your currency. Any payment you receive, in any Circle supported currency, will be automatically converted to the currency you are holding at the time of receiving the payment.

Switching currencies

If you live in a location where we can support multiple currencies, you will have the option to convert your currency in your Settings.

  1. Go to Settings and then Currency.
  2. Choose which currency you'd like to convert your balance to.
  3. Confirm you understand that converting your balance can be considered a taxable event.
  4. Enjoy your new balance in a new currency!

Note: Anytime you decide to change currencies, you will be making a conversion using Circle's exchange rates. We’ll display these rates to you before you make the conversion.
